'No Demo Reno' Star Jenn Todryk Talks Design Tips and Trends - House Beautiful

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

Ever since Jenn Todryk’s HGTV show No Demo Reno premiered in 2021, fans have watched in awe as the Texas-based designer has completely transformed her clients' homes without major structural changes. Whether you're a longtime viewer or recently got hooked, you likely can't get enough of her clever home design tips and takes. As new episodes of the third season continue to air on Thursdays, we tapped Todryk—who is also known as The Rambling Redhead—for intel on everything from the home feature she recommends splurging on to her favorite design trends and 2024 predictions. Plus, we even got the scoop on what fans might be surprised to learn about the blogger and owner of Armor Brewing Co.

Throughout No Demo Reno's history, Todryk says the most common area her clients want her to tackle is the kitchen. "It's the heart of the home," Todryk tells House Beautiful. "It's what people put their budget towards first—new cabinets, countertops, backsplash. Everyone wants either a more beautiful kitchen or a kitchen that functions more properly for them."

For anyone embarking on a kitchen project who also happens to have cabinets that are dated or shallow, Todryk recommends splurging on new cabinetry. Investing in tall, deep cabinetry can easily modernize the interiors while enhancing storage space. "And, of course, just adding paint and hardware seals the deal," Todryk adds.

Apart from revamping your home on a budget, a no-demolition renovation can offer true customization. Case in point: Upon her client's request, Todryk found a way to seamlessly build a dresser into her living room. The designer explains: "A client wanted a place to put all her kids' clothes for the week in her living room, next to her TV, so she needed it concealed. Basically, I built a dresser next to a television in a living room. I thought it was really creative and innovative and truly custom to what that family needed to help her home function as a mom to four kids that were getting ready in the morning."

As far as design trends go, Todryk is currently loving "dark woods as accent pieces in home renovations mixed with other tones of wood" and items with intricate detailing, including trim, knobs, and lighting. "It's kind of this old colonial feel that is coming into homes now that I really like," she says. "It's like a little touch of old, but it feels very new and modern at the same time."

She believes dark wood tones along with moody colors will make a stronger appearance in people's homes next year as they continue to get more comfortable with it now. In 2024, she also predicts closed-concept homes will be more coveted because "you have more walls to decorate," which adds character and enhance a home's cozy atmosphere. "People are learning to love the house that they are in or maybe the one that they just got given the demands of the market," Todryk says. "So, they are renovating these older homes and actually looking at it from a different perspective and liking the closed concept versus wishing they had the kind of open big box feel."

When it comes to decorating her own home, Todryk revealed that she used to be a big faux plant lover, but has changed her point of view. "Over the past five years or so, I've really had fun buying real plants slowly and keeping them alive and being successful in that," Todryk says.

For aspiring real plant parents, Todryk recommends easing into it and not trying to "be a full gardener all at the same time." She advises, "one at a time, figure out the plant and try to keep that one alive before you try to take on another plant baby. I can say, I thoroughly enjoy having real plants and no longer think that they are a complete pain in the butt!"

US Army to Demo Potential Solutions Against Swarm of 50 Drones - The Defense Post

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

The US Army will hold an ambitious demonstration of counter-drone solutions capable of neutralizing a swarm of 50 unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

The announcement came from the service’s Joint Counter Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Office (JCO) and was reported by Breaking Defense.

According to the report, the demonstration was previewed at the annual conference of the Association of the US Army, in which countering sophisticated drones was one of the key discussions.

During the test to be conducted at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, industry partners will showcase various solutions against a swarm of up to 50 flying robots.

“If somebody has that system, come see me. I’m looking to talk to you,” JCO director Maj. Gen. Sean Gainey said. “We have some money that we’ll be ready to invest in.”

The army expects the demonstration to be carried out in June 2024.

‘EW-Heavy’

JCO acquisition division chief Col. Michael Parent said the counter-UAS solutions will be classified based on the five drone categories available.

The first group contains small drones like quadcopters and nano drones, while the fifth group is for large UAS such as the MQ-9 Reaper.

While counter-drone solutions for all five categories are important in modern warfare, the US Army said it will only focus on the first three groups for now.

Participating vendors are advised to prepare for an electronic warfare-heavy environment, necessary in neutralizing hostile drones.

“[The demo] will show how our adversaries will try to overwhelm our air defenses and try to overwhelm our ability to counter small UAS,” Parent explained.

Army officials have reportedly identified some counter-drone technologies to be demonstrated, but they clarified that the event will not necessarily mean that the service will enter into a production agreement.

Potential Vendors

BAE Systems could participate with a counter-UAS solution mounted on an Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle.

The company said it will ensure the platform can integrate a 30-millimeter cannon, which is reportedly effective against group 1 UAS.

Dedrone is also expected to exhibit its state-of-the-art counter-UAS solution featuring radio frequency sensors to locate incoming threats.

Police seek four people for ‘pro-Hamas’ signs at Palestine demo in London - The Guardian

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

Police are looking for four people alleged to have shown support for terrorism, including a man who held a placard declaring full support for Hamas, and three women alleged to have brandished photos of paragliders, which may be a reference to those that were used to attack Israel.

The Metropolitan police’s counter-terrorism command issued photos of the suspects and said hate crimes continued to increase. Another big pro-Palestinian demonstration through central London is scheduled for Saturday.

Police said the man with the Hamas placard, written in pen on brown cardboard, was pictured at a demonstration on Saturday 21 October in Bond Street, central London. It read: “I fully support Hamas.”. The group is proscribed under terrorism legislation in the UK and was responsible for the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust in the 7 October attack on Israel that left 1,400 dead.

As part of the massacres, Hamas used paragliders to get some of its gunmen into Israel from Gaza. Police say on 21 October, in Whitehall, three women were pictured with photos of paragliders. Two wore them on their person and one held a placard.

Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s counter-terrorism command, said officers had been unable to track down the suspects. “Detectives have carried out numerous inquiries to identify these people and we are now asking the public to take a good look at these images and tell us if they know who these people are,” he said.

“I would stress that we want to speak to these people to help us with our inquiries, and in fact, I would urge them to get in touch with us directly.”

Police said hate crimes against Jewish communities in London were exponentially higher than at this time last year, having risen 14-fold. The Met has recorded 408 alleged antisemitic offences in October, compared with 28 in the same period in 2022.

Anti-Muslim crimes more than doubled year on year, with 174 alleged offences reported in October compared with 65 last year.

The Community Security Trust, which fights antisemitism, said recent examples included a Jewish man on the London underground facing shouts of “Kill him” and a woman in a shop shouting “Yahud” – Arabic for Jews – at a man who was shopping.

As Israel faces claims that its attacks against Gaza have broken international law, Murphy said police would consider complaints of alleged war crimes for which there is universal jurisdiction. “If we receive war crimes referrals, each of them will be dealt with on their own merits and will be accepted as a referral that we will follow through the process which is well publicised,” he said.

In the past, protesters have attempted to have arrest warrants issued against senior Israeli military or political figures on visits to the UK.

The Met was criticised for not making arrests after “jihad” was shouted at a fundamentalist protest last weekend. The force assessed that use of the term did not break the law, although some ministers appeared to be critical of the police stance.

Commander Kyle Gordon said that if “jihad” was shouted “specifically against Israel”, then officers would intervene. That would be a much clearer-cut example than the one that led to controversy last Sunday and Monday.

Play Stargate: Timekeepers Right Now With A Free Demo » GateWorld - GateWorld

depolitikblog.blogspot.com
Stargate: Timekeepers

Stargate: Timekeepers is almost here, and today fans of both Stargate and real-time tactics can try out the game with the release of a hands-on demo for PC. Publisher Slitherine Games also announced the game’s release date, along with a new trailer.

Part 1 of Timekeepers will include seven of the game’s 14 missions (or “episodes”), and release on December 12. Part 2 will arrive as a free update in the first quarter of 2024.

The news was announced today at Slitherine Games’ livestream celebration of Stargate, marking 29 years (as of this weekend) since the original feature film hit theaters. Guests on the livestream included SG-1 co-star Michael Shanks, director Martin Wood, Timekeepers writer Robert Brown, and yours truly — Stargate fan and GateWorld managing editor Darren Sumner.

The livestream included conversation and Q&As, and featured the premiere of a brand new teaser trailer for Stargate: Timekeepers. Take a look:

The opening cinematic sets up the game’s first mission, which will take place on the ground in the aftermath of the Battle of Antarctica (“Lost City”). Timekeepers‘ original story, featuring F-302 pilot Eva McCain and a brand new team, will take off from there.

Here’s how the publisher describes the story:

Stargate: Timekeepers departs from the end of season 7 of the Stargate SG-1 main plot to create an original story, unfolding over 14 narrative-rich missions. Your adventure starts during the Battle of Antarctica, where Commander Eva McCain and her team are supporting the SG-1 against Anubis’s fleet.

Sometime later, Eva and her team of specialists are tasked with a new mission in the Stargate universe: help the Jaffa Resistance, prevent brutal rituals, strike against Moloc’s army, and seek an alliance with the Unas.

Stargate: Timekeepers (CreativeForge / Slitherine)

CreativeForge / Slitherine

Over the course of the game’s early missions players will unlock a full roster of (fully voice-acted) team members including Colonel Eva McCain, expert marksman Max Bolton, tech officer and spy Sam Watson (who uses a mimic device), and scientist and engineer Derreck Harper (who controls a set of drones). The team from Earth will also encounter the female Jaffa A’ta, and an Unas named Xugga.

Timekeepers is a real-time tactics game that will be available for PC. The pre-order price is $29.99 (U.S.) / £24.99 (U.K.).

Ready to start your mission? You have a go! Head to the Stargate: Timekeepers Steam page to check out the demo (2.5 GB) and pre-order the game. And stick with GateWorld for full coverage as the release date approaches.

Animal Crossing PC game with spells and vampires gets free Steam demo - PCGamesN

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

Animal Crossing is one of the pioneers of the life sim genre as we know it, first hitting Nintendo consoles in 2001, just months after The Sims came to PC. Unlike The Sims though, Animal Crossing was a little more fantastical, moving away from the realistic human companions of The Sims and bringing adorable anthropomorphic animals to a colorful and engaging world. With the Nintendo series not available on PC, this left a gap for games like Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon to become instant hits, but none scratch the Animal Crossing itch quite like Moonlight Peaks.

A purple vampire house in a world of cozy life game MoonLight Peaks.

With myriad life games and games like Animal Crossing available for the PC, Stardew Valley is surprisingly one of the few household names. Its pixelated, 16-bit inspired aesthetic sets it apart from Animal Crossing, with more recent games like Coral Island and Paleo Pines more closely adopting that more 3D, cartoonish style. All doing their own thing, none quite resemble the landscape and decorative aspects of Animal Crossing like upcoming cozy game Moonlight Peaks, so if you’re still waiting for that perfect AC-like on PC, you can try Moonlight Peaks in a free Steam demo ahead of its full release date, which is yet to be announced.

Don’t think that Moonlight Peaks is a direct rip-off of the Nintendo games though. The look of your town and buildings might be familiar to fans of Animal Crossing, but cute animal neighbors are replaced by vampires, while the dating aspect of Stardew Valley and Coral Island is even mixed in, giving you the chance to date from a pool of eligible humans, werewolves, and vampires alike. Farming isn’t just for food and decorations, as magical potions and spells are another unique Moonlight Peaks mechanic – and one you can test out in the demo. There is also a unique and heartfelt story aspect to Moonlight Peaks, as you work to get out from under the shadow of your father and prove that vampires can be caring and compassionate friends.

A character farming in Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing like game Moonlight Peaks.

From Thursday October 26, you can download the Steam decorating demo directly from the Moonlight Peaks store page, giving you seven in-game nights to decorate your home, garden, and surrounding areas. Despite being limited to seven-nights, there is no limit on how many times you can replay, so you can try out multiple layouts as you plan your village ahead of the full release date. Some future features are not included in the decorating-focused demo, such as NPCs, character customization, and dating, but farming, house customization, potions, spells, crafting, and shapeshifting are all fair game.

We’ll be jumping into this free Moonlight Peaks Steam demo while we can, soaking in those purple and teal dusk tones which are perfect for spooky season. While we await the game’s full release though, we’ll be biting into some of our other favorite vampire games and management games, and we recommend you join us.

People waiting for Silksong should try the demo for Worldless, which launches next month - Rock Paper Shotgun

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

OK, so there's plenty in Worldless that won't remind you of Silksong or its predecessor, Hollow Knight. Rather than a medieval bug exploring a labyrinth of bioluminescent rot and lore, you're a vaguely humanoid cloud of shards and points, roaming an abstract landscape of soft curves and shafts of light. You're Rayman but fancy, basically, and the world is no world but an uncreated expanse of elemental forces, though you'll find you can run and jump on it much as you can the ledges of Hallownest. The combat is a different beast, too. Rather than Souls-inflected 2D hack-and-slash, it's turn-based battling with a twist - each turn gives you a countdown in which to perform real-time combos, mixing melee and magical attacks.

So why does Worldless make me think of Team Cherry's work? Partly it's the underlying touch of metroidvania, a word the press materials seem oddly hesitant to use. The map extends in all directions and you'll need to acquire new abilities to reach certain areas. Partly, it's the shared enchanted grotto atmosphere, with all sorts of tiny animate details festering for attention as you explore. And partly, it's the dash move you unlock early on, and the process of chaining it with a platform-conjuring ability to unlock routes while traversing them, which puts me strongly in mind of those horizontal gauntlet runs from the Silksong trailer. All told, if you're beginning to crisp up for lack of Hollow Knight news, you might want to give the demo a whirl ahead of Worldless's release on (drum roll) 21st November 2023.

You should probably give it a whirl even if you couldn't care a bean for Hollow Knight. As Katharine reported in July, there's the makings of something excellent here. The combat, for example, is nicely layered. Fights are sparse and occur at preset points in the world(less), where clumps of angry shapes and colours materialise without warning. Victory is a balance of capitalising on weaknesses to certain attack types or elements while blocking with the correct button - pull off a precision parry, and your shield will absorb the hit without losing integrity. But it's not enough just to defeat your adversary: to earn ability points, you'll want to absorb them by filling up a combo bar. Fortunately, enemies can be summoned and re-fought once beaten. As a whole, it feels like a vastly expanded homage to the Trigon battles from Sword & Sworcery.

I also really like the aesthetic, and especially the HUD. The in-game map and unlock trees are represented as dots and lines flowing out of your character's head - an approach to diegetic UI design I am going to call "avant garde Xmas tree" until developers Noname Studios tell me not to. The only thing I'm not so keen on is the writing from the marketing materials, which asks you to "uncover unimaginable possibilities" and go in "pursuit of transcendence" - all very wind-your-neck-in-please. Here's hoping none of that features in the game itself. Anyway, find the Steam page over here.

Ranbir Kapoor On Being Called "Toxic" After Alia Bhatt's Viral Lipstick Demo: "I Am On The Side Of The People..." - NDTV

Mumbai:

Actor Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about dealing with negativity and also reacted to the trolls who call him 'toxic'. Taking to X Ranbir's fans shared a clip from a conversation in which the Barfi! star said, "Hey, I'm not on social media so I don't have the need to deal with it which is a great thing. But I feel negativity is very important especially if you are an artist and if you have some work out there I think both need to exist because then that creates a balance. You know sometimes a lot of things are written about you as an actor, a lot of opinions are made which are not necessarily true and if you take it for a pinch of salt because this image of mine which has been created by the movies or the characters I play or by media is something that I don't own."

Ranbir added, "It's owned by the public, it's owned by people who like my work or dislike my work and they are allowed to say anything about me as long as they give my work a chance you know as long as I can prove to them as an actor and that has always been my focus - to act."

"Recently, I was reading some article about being toxic and something relating to some statement I made and I understand this. And I am on the side of the people who are fighting for the toxic masculinity, if they use me as the face of it, it's fine because their fight is bigger than just me feeling sad about them having an opinion about what I said. I look at a larger picture," he added.

Bollywood celebs and controversies go hand-in-hand. Recently, Ranbir was found at the receiving end of trolls after his wife Alia Bhatt made a new revelation about their equation on social media. Vogue India dropped a video of Alia. In the video, Alia revealed that she tries to keep her lipstick faded and minimal as her husband doesn't like it.

While Alia seemingly thought she was sharing a cute detail about her relationship with Ranbir, many social media users did not think so .In the video, she said, "One thing my husband...when he wasn't my husband but when he was my boyfriend as well... he would be like 'wipe that off, wipe that off' because he loves the natural colour of my lips."

Several fans swamped down the comment section and called Ranbir a "toxic" husband and a "red flag". Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir will be next seen in the upcoming action thriller film Animal, which is all set to hit the theatres on December 1. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film also stars Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles.

The Beatles Demo That Turned Into A Defining John Lennon Solo Single | News - Clash Magazine

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

John Lennon’s solo career contains some towering, Everest-like highs. A songwriter who helped give the Peace movement a true anthem in the form of ‘Imagine’, he was also able to dive into caverns of loss, and inadequacy.

On the surface, ‘Jealous Guy’ might not have what it takes for a hit – the lilting melody aside, it’s the sound of someone admitting they fear that they’re not good enough. Yet it’s become an enduring statement of John Lennon’s solo work, an ode to Yoko Ono that has become fixed in the public gaze.

The song’s roots owe a debt to a tumultuous time in the Beatles’ lives. The Fab Four decamped to India, in order to study with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Ringo was the first to leave – unhappy with the food, and missing home – before being followed by a doubtful Paul McCartney.

George Harrison – the prime mover behind the meditative trip – opted to stay, with John Lennon sticking it out beside his friend. Their time in the ashram allowed John to focus on his music, constructing a plethora of future classics destined for what would become ‘The White Album’.

One sketch became known as ‘Child Of Nature’. Recorded in sketch form at George Harrson’s Esher pad on the group’s return to the UK, it dealt with the trip, and a longing to embrace spirituality.

Here’s a fragment of the lyrics:

On the road to Rishikesh
I was dreaming more or less
And the dream I had was true
Yes, the dream I had was true / I’m just a child of nature
I don’t need much to set me free
I’m just child of nature
I’m one of nature’s children / Sunlight shining in my eyes

Unable to quite nail the song down, John Lennon shelved it. Years later, the melody re-emerged, coupled to lyrics about his relationship with Yoko Ono.

A song of jealousy, John would later insist it was “almost on a very conceptual, spiritual level”. Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said:

“When you’re in love with somebody, you tend to be jealous and want to own them and possess them 100 per cent, which I do. Intellectually, I thought owning a person is rubbish, but I love Yoko, I want to possess her completely. I don’t want to stifle her. You have so little as a child, I think once you find it, you want to hang onto it. You grab it so much, you tend to kill it.”

Lennon’s sudden passing in 1980 would propel the song back into the charts. Bryan Ferry opted to cover it, his touching, lounge-leaning rendition topped off with a pitch perfect whistle solo from the Roxy Music singer.

The original, though, and the long path behind it, remains definitive.

Star Citizen's new StarEngine tech demo is one of the most impressive we've ever seen - TweakTown

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

The other day, we got a fresh look at Squadron 42, the ambitious single-player spin-off of the perpetually in-development Star Citizen. With the head of Cloud Imperium Games being industry veteran Chris Roberts, it's described as a modern-day reimagining of the classic Wing Commander series, albeit with space exploration and tactical first-person shooting joining the star-studded dogfighting amongst the stars.

It uses the same tech and engine as Star Citizen, now dubbed StarEngine - the long-in-development Squadron 42 is feature-complete and in the "polish phase." Alongside that impressive demo, there was perhaps an even more impressive StarEngine demo showcasing the full potential of what it can do and Star Citizen's incredible scale.

Okay, talking about this game 10+ years after its initial reveal is often met with skepticism - and rightfully so. However, people have been playing an early version of Star Citizen for several years now (and spending big on virtual ships), and the tech we see in this demo is next-level next-level.

The video carries the disclaimer, "Everything you are about to see has been captured in engine as one continuous shot without loading screens." Distances have been compressed "for the sake of brevity" (even though it's a 24-minute video, galaxies are huge), but even so, the visuals here are mind-blowing. The physically based atmospheres look incredible, and you can then land on planets and seamlessly transition to detailed interiors... wow.

It's worth reminding you that "in engine" does not mean "in-game," so this is proof of concept stuff - and really, there's just no way something like this could have been built in three or four years. The engine does incredible stuff regarding streaming detail and data for indoor and outdoor environments; it makes what we see in Starfield look like a game from the 1970s.

Planets and biomes are procedurally generated, too, ala No Man's Sky, but with a focus on realistic visuals and a real-world 1:1 scale. The on-the-ground planet stuff is cool, but the atmospheres and planets from space look amazing. Here's hoping it all becomes playable in Star Citizen sooner rather than later.

New classic Resident Evil-style horror game has a stellar free demo - PCGamesN

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

Crow Country is an upcoming PS1-inspired Resident Evil-style horror game that’s just been announced, and I’ve tried the excellent free demo. While I love horror and RE with all my heart, it can often be difficult to find something that channels those early PlayStation Capcom games but still wants to modernize the formula while doing something truly unique. I’m glad to tell you that Crow Country fits that bill perfectly. To top it off, you can try the game for yourself right now.

With no release date set yet, Crow Country’s demo sends you to a rural Georgian state theme park of the same name. The year is 1990, and you’re searching for the park’s owner Edward Crow, but you very quickly discover that the titular park isn’t what it seems, as strange biohazard-looking creatures are everywhere, and Resident Evil’s classic survival horror game style comes into play.

While Crow Country’s visuals are certainly worth celebrating, I want to start by telling you how the game channels old-school Resident Evil while bringing it to some new places. While you’ll be conserving resources and solving puzzles during exploration, Crow Country gives you both full camera and weapon control, so you can change your perspective and aim your gun in any direction – think Resident Evil 4 if it was presented more like Resident Evil 1.

Couple this with the incredibly smooth controls, and you can see how Crow Country takes inspiration from RE, but uses that as a springboard to change how you see and explore the world as you engage with enemies with more precision. It’s a small difference, but it makes the game feel truly modern.

YouTube Thumbnail

On top of that, Crow Country has some stellar aesthetic design; while all the characters and crow mascots look cute and cuddly, the CRT overlay, music, sounds, and oppressively dark visuals make it feel suitably spooky.

I also found the Exploration Mode, which lets you play Crow Country without being attacked, a nice touch. It’s a small change with a big impact and one that lets you sit in the atmosphere and solve the game’s puzzles without fear of the enemies.

You can learn more about Crow Country and download the free demo on Steam right now. Be sure to give the team at SFB Games some feedback after playing to help them make it the best they can before release, too.

If you want even more we’ve got the very best horror VR games you should be playing to scare yourself, alongside some excellent single-player games on PC you need to try.

Newspaper headlines: Braverman 'fury' at demo chants and Charlton tributes - BBC.com

A number of front pages lead on Suella Braverman's meeting on Monday with the Metropolitan Police commissioner to discuss the force's response to protests in central London over the weekend. The Daily Mail says a furious home secretary will demand to know why the police adopted a "low-key" approach and "stood by" as a man chanted "jihad" at a pro-Palestine rally. Sir Mark Rowley will defend his officers because the protestors couldn't be prosecuted under current legislation, according to the lead story in the Times. The paper says Sir Mark jointly authored a review two years ago "which found that extremists were able to operate with 'impunity' in the UK and incite hatred because of the "gaping chasm" in the UK's legislation". In the Daily Telegraph, former Met Police officer and counter-terrorism expert Neil Basu claims the government failed to act on Sir Mark's review. But, the paper also quotes a group protecting Jewish people in the UK, the Community Security Trust, which accuses the police of "legitimising obnoxious and hateful behaviour" with their response to the chanting.

There is outrage on the front of the Sun after allegations a London Underground tube driver led passengers in chants of "Free Palestine" on the Central line on Saturday. British Transport Police (BTP) and Transport for London (TfL) are investigating the incident.

Elsewhere, the Guardian says pressure is growing on Israel to negotiate the release of the more than 200 hostages Hamas is holding in Gaza before the anticipated ground assault. It says desperate families have been begging officials to "free their loved ones".

Continuing with Israel-Gaza conflict coverage the Financial Times reports Washington is sending more air defences to the Middle East as tensions rise across the region. US defence secretary Lloyd Austin is quoted on the front of the paper as saying he was concerned about the risk of conflict escalation.

The home secretary also features on the front of the i newspaper - but for a different story. The paper says civil servants have described her Rwanda scheme as "absurd".

Finally, "Brothers forever" is the Daily Mirror's headline. The tabloid quotes the younger brother of Sir Bobby Charlton, who died on Saturday, as saying the football legend will have joined another of the brothers, Jack, who died in 2020.
