ABC Declares Victory In Entertainment Among 18-49 Demo For 2022-23 Broadcast Season, Touts Performance Of Unscripted Programming - Deadline

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

EXCLUSIVE: ABC is claiming a victory of its own for the 2022-23 TV season.

The network is currently averaging a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 entertainment demo for primetime programming, excluding sports, per Nielsen most current data through May 24.

That puts it at No. 1 among the broadcasters in terms of entertainment programming, beating the 0.5 rating scored by Fox, NBC and CBS.

This is the fourth consecutive year that ABC has ranked or tied as the highest-rated broadcaster in entertainment, which is a first for the network since the inception of the Nielsen electronic database 31 years ago.

ABC has been particularly successful with unscripted, touting six of the TV season’s highest-rated primetime programs — American Idol Sunday (0.9 rating), The Bachelor (0.8 rating), Bachelor in Paradise Tuesday (0.8 rating), American Idol Monday (0.7 rating), Jeopardy! Masters Monday (0.7 rating) and Bachelor in Paradise Monday (0.7 rating).

Overall, ABC tied or ranked as the highest-rated network (excluding sports programming) on 20 out of 36 weeks this TV season and for 14 consecutive weeks from February 13 to May 15.

The viewing measurement uses Nielsen’s “most current” data for all content, which includes a combination of seven-day ratings when available, as well as three-day ratings and same-day ratings.

AMD Has Open-Source Ryzen AI Demo Code - But Only For Windows - Phoronix

depolitikblog.blogspot.com
AMD
One of the most interesting aspects of the new AMD Ryzen 7040 series laptop processors is the new "Ryzen AI" capabilities with the new XDNA AI engine capabilities built into the SoC, leveraging IP from their Xilinx acquisition. Linux support details remain scarce but at least one of their (Windows) demos for showcasing Ryzen AI is open-source.

So far I haven't received any information from AMD on Linux support expectations for Ryzen AI in its initial form with the new Ryzen 7040 series laptops coming to market. All the communications have only referenced Microsoft Windows 11 support, so the Linux support may be lacking but at the same time we've seen a lot of AMD-Xilinx code going upstream into the Linux kernel in recent months albeit not explicitly mentioning Ryzen AI. In any event once being able to find an interesting Ryzen 7040 series laptop for purchase, I plan on picking one up for Linux testing due to the interesting nature of the 7040 series and Ryzen AI being among the areas to investigate. (If you too are interested in the Ryzen 7040 mobile series, consider joining Phoronix Premium or making a tip to help offset the costs - going on right now is also the Phoronix birthday deal; unfortunately no laptop review samples from AMD.)

While trying to find more about the Ryzen AI potential for Linux this weekend, I was pleased to see that AMD did publish some Ryzen AI demo code as open-source. To showcase the local AI performance of Ryzen AI compared to relying on remote AI in the cloud (Microsoft Azure), AMD has a "RyzenAI-cloud-to-client-demo" as open-source though at this point catered just for Windows 11. The demo is a collection of Python scripts, a Qt interface, and other bits. With Ryzen AI supporting ONNX Runtime, that does bode well for the Linux support once the necessary kernel pieces are in order.

Ryzen AI

Those wanting to checkout the Ryzen AI open-source demo code can find it under AMD's GitHub repository.

When can we expect the Final Fantasy 16 demo? - Eurogamer.net

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

Final Fantasy 16 fans have spotted its demo on the PlayStation Store, though it's not available to download yet.

The listing, shared on reddit, suggests the demo is on the PSN and ready to go, but has only been seen by those who have pre-ordered the game in advance and when browsing on mobile. I've seen no mention of a demo on the console PSN myself.

Square Enix stated a demo was on the way, but no release date was given. So when might it arrive?

Final Fantasy 16 is the Darkest Final Fantasy Yet

Square Enix has made a habit of releasing demos of its games ahead of launch, typically containing the opening of the game with progress carrying over to the full release.

We know already that the Final Fantasy 16 demo will comprise the game's prologue - something I was lucky enough to play through already - that explores Clive's early life in Valisthea.

So what date is likely?

The most obvious suggestion is 11th June - Square Enix will host a pre-launch celebration in Los Angeles on this day, which will also be livestreamed.

At 11 days before the game's release on 22nd June, this would certainly give fans long enough to play through the demo, not to mention a launch party is the ideal time to get the game in the hands of fans.

Another option is an announcement at one of the summer games conferences next week. Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest 2023 is perhaps the most likely, but with Final Fantasy 16 being a PlayStation exclusive shown only at Sony events, this seems unlikely.

What about other dates? Is there a precedence set by Square Enix's previous demo releases?

Looking at recent demo releases, The DioField Chronicle had a demo on 10th August, over a month before the game's 22nd September release; Valkyrie Elysium had a demo on 15th September, 12 days before the game's 27th September release; Star Ocean: The Divine Force had a demo on 21st September, a month ahead of the game's 27th October release; Forspoken had a demo on 20th December, a month ahead of the game's 24th January release; and Octopath Traveler 2 had a demo on 9th February, 15 days ahead of the game's 24th February release.

In short, there is little consistency!

Still, with the demo seemingly on PSN, it's clearly ready and raring to go at any point from now. Frankly, so am I.

Final Fantasy 16 will release in full on 22nd June, exclusive to PlayStation 5.

Final Fantasy XVI Demo Listing Appears on PlayStation Store - Wccftech

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

A Final Fantasy XVI demo may soon be available for download if a listing appeared today on the PlayStation Store is to be believed.

Several eagle-eyed Reddit users noticed that a Final Fantasy XVI demo showed up in their libraries, but only after they pre-ordered the game. It could mean that the demo is reserved for pre-order customers, perhaps for a brief timeframe before it becomes available for everyone.

Either way, a trial version of the sixteenth mainline game in the RPG franchise will be available shortly to tide fans over until the full release, scheduled for June 22nd on PlayStation 5 (with a PC version coming later). As with many recent game demos, let's hope that the progress will carry over to the full game once purchased. The announcement of the Final Fantasy XVI demo could likely take place during Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest event, due to air on June 8th at 3 PM Eastern Time/noon Pacific Time.

Wccftech's Kai Powell recently played the opening of Final Fantasy XVI during a hands-on preview event. Here's how he described it:

The very first moments of gameplay are an on-rails shooting segment with players controlling Phoenix and trying to shoot down a rampaging Ifrit. Little is explained why players aren’t controlling Ifrit, but that’s only a part of the misdirection setting in. The core of Final Fantasy XVI’s narrative focuses on the great and powerful Eikon, summoned beasts and mythological figures that harbor the summons that Final Fantasy is traditionally known for, and the Dominants, who can channel and utilize their powers. During the war room campaign at Zirnitra Stronghold, the roles of Dominants and the Eikon they possess are swapped around before the player should have any idea of the significance. Clive himself appears to be the Dominant of Phoenix, while Benedikta wields the Dominant of Ice, Shiva (who can somehow light a pipe with that same power). The battles of Nysa Defile claim to wish to seek out Shiva’s Dominant as the primary target, but who could that be if Benedikta is not the chosen Dominant? These moments also highlight some of the mature themes that Square-Enix is going for in Final Fantasy XVI to bring the storied entry in line with popular dark fantasy such as HBO’s Game of Thrones series, complete with two partial sex scenes before the first hour of the game is complete.

Only six demo notices issued in Rehoboth so far in 2023 - CapeGazette.com

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

Rehoboth Beach’s annual moratorium on demolitions began May 15, and while there have been demo notices issued by the city, the number is fewer than last year’s decade-low amount at the same point in the year.

To date, the city has issued six demolition permits in 2023. Last year, the city had issued seven before the moratorium, and finished the year with 16. It was the first time since 2013 the number of demolition permits issued for an entire year was below 20.

City records on demolition notices issued date back to April 2012. Since then, including the six this year, the total number of notices issued is about 273.

A good indication of how the rest of the year will go in terms of demolitions will be the number of permits issued in August. The city’s annual moratorium runs May 15 to Sept. 15. As the numbers show, often times there’s a rush in August to get permit applications in and issued so property owners can have their homes demolished as soon as the moratorium is lifted and hopefully have their new home built by the following summer.

Demo notices issued so far in 2023

– The city issued a demo notice Jan. 25 for a two-story single-family dwelling at 208 Stockley St.

– The city issued a demo notice Feb. 21 for a one-story single family dwelling at 523 School Lane.

– The city issued a demo notice March 9 for a two-story single-family dwelling at 705 Bayard Ave.
