High school and homeschool junior and senior students can register now for three special events coming up in March at Sheridan College.
Demo Day, Culinary Experience Day and Cyber Day are all set for March 4 – a Wednesday – at the college, and students have until Feb. 7 to register. All three events are free to students, teachers and counselors.
The events feature hands-on activities, tours and faculty demonstrations designed to provide a college experience for high school students.
Demo Day highlights all of the technical programs offered at Sheridan College. Students will be guided through four hands-on activities in welding, diesel, machine tool and construction, and they'll tour the college's newly remodeled and expanded Technical Center.
Culinary Experience Day will be at the Wyoming Culinary Institute on Sheridan Avenue. Transportation will be provided, and students will get a sense of what it's like to work in a real restaurant. They'll also learn how to make several different dishes.
Cyber Day gives students an in-depth look at Sheridan College's computer science programs including web development, computer networking administration, cyber security, computer science and the IT support technician certificate.
Lunch will be provided to all participants free of charge at the Thorne-Rider Campus Center.
Misty Bateman, who's the college's CTE student recruiter, said these events are a fun way for students to explore the wide variety of programs available at Sheridan College.
To register, contact Bateman at mbateman@sheridan.edu or call 675-0787 by Feb. 7. Each student participant must provide their full name, mailing address, email address, phone number, high school attending, current grade and graduation year.
