REGIONAL — There were a total of six new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in six southwest Minnesota counties during the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Saturday, according to today’s situation update from the Minnesota Department of Health.
The state now reports 69,584 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 since testing began, with 62,373 of them beyond the 10-day isolation period. There were 728 new cases of the coronavirus reported in the last 24-hour period, along with six deaths.
Statewide, 1,767 individuals have now died from COVID-19, with another 46 people believed to have died from the virus but not tested before their death. Among the dead are 1,310 residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
As of Saturday, 301 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 statewide, with 137 being treated in intensive care units. Thus far, 7,715 health care workers in Minnesota have contracted the novel coronavirus.
A local snapshot of the virus shows the following:

Nobles County: 1,823 positive cases (one new case); 1,775 beyond the 10-day isolation period; 11 deaths.

Cottonwood County: 194 positive cases.

Jackson County: 90 positive cases (one new case).

Murray County: 136 positive cases (one new cases); one death.

Pipestone County: 173 positive cases (one new case); nine deaths.

Rock County: 98 positive cases (two new cases).
The Iowa Department of Health reports 56,157 cases of the novel coronavirus in its state since testing began, with 43,489 individuals deemed to have recovered. There have been 1,035 deaths blamed on COVID-19 in the state.
In northwest Iowa:

Lyon County: 136 positive cases; 118 recovered; two deaths.

Osceola County: 91 positive cases; 76 recovered.

Dickinson County: 400 positive cases; 352 recovered; five deaths.
Nationwide, Johns Hopkins University reports a cumulative total of 5,674,576 positive cases of COVID-19, with 1,985,484 deemed recovered as of 10:30 a.m. Sunday. There have been 176,464 deaths from COVID-19 in the United States.
