St. Paul Chamber Orchestra adds six fall concerts that will be streamed live for free - TwinCities.com-Pioneer Press

The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra will perform six free virtual concerts through the end of the year that will be streamed live.

Earlier this month, the SPCO canceled its ticketed fall concerts due to the pandemic. The six new performances will take place at the Ordway Concert Hall with no audience present. Musicians will play chamber music repertoire for small ensembles that allows for appropriate physical distancing on stage, while additional safety precautions will be in place to help protect the stage crew, support staff and video production team.

“Since the onset of this crisis we have endeavored to find ways to share our music with the community in a manner that is safe and responsible,” said SPCO managing director and president Jon Limbacher in a news release. “All of this will be provided to our community free of charge because we remain deeply committed to our vision of providing a great orchestra for everyone in the community.”

In addition to the live streams — which will be captured on high-definition video with audio provided by Classical Minnesota Public Radio — the SPCO will release a series of past encore performances through the fall. In addition, the existing on-demand library already includes 62 concerts and 122 compositions. For details, see thespco.org.

The fall 2020 digital concert calendar includes:
