The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 768 more COVID-19 cases Wednesday, and six more deaths throughout the state.
New cases made up for 7.4% of the 10,378 tests processed since Tuesday, sending the percent positive rate back over 7%, a day after it dipped below that level for the first time in nearly a week.
The seven-day average of new cases on Wednesday was 681, up from 666 the day prior.
To date, more than 1.2 million Wisconsinites — about a fifth of the state's population — have been tested for COVID-19.
Of the 72,260 who have tested positive, about 10% are still considered by the state to be "active" cases, according to DHS data. That means the patient was diagnosed in the last 30 days, has not died and has not had their symptoms clear or been released from isolation.

As of Wednesday, just under 8% of the state's total cases have ever required hospitalization, DHS data show.
The Wisconsin Hospital Association is expected to release the number of patients currently hospitalized late Wednesday afternoon.
The health department also released updated activity rankings by county, which refresh each Wednesday. To calculate these rankings, the state combines the total new cases per 100,000 people over the past two weeks per county, and the percent change in new cases between the past seven days and the seven days before that.
