In the latest episode of Humboldt Last Week
Originating from a 1980s demo spawning from right here in Humboldt County, the rock band Mr. Bungle is set to release a new and more polished version of “The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny” on October 30.
This time replacing the Eureka suburbs, a four-track recorder, and teen testosterone, the band has added pristine studio sounds and folks like Dave Lombardo (ex Slayer) and Scott Ian (Anthrax).
While the band went on to find successes with their experimental-rock sound, their first recordings are primarily based in thrash metal –– which fits full-circle with contributions from those aforementioned musicians.
Personnel on the new ‘Bungle album includes Trey Spruance, Trevor Dunn, Lombardo, Ian, and Mike Patton, who since the ‘80s has gone on to celebrate successes with Grammy-nominated Faith No More and his label Ipecac Recordings.
“The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo” is the first new album in over 20 years for Mr. Bungle, who were named after a brash Pee-wee Herman character and played many of their first shows at places like the Bayside Grange, Jambalaya, and the Old Town Bar and Grill.
In the band’s thanks section of their first demo, they reference Eureka Railroad, The Works, their loving parents, and a Walt Disney insult.
Here’s a new version of “Eracist” coupled with unsettling imagery.
Also covered: People Magazine, NYT Magazine, BLM protests intensify, helpful Humboldt, movie project details, growers defy evacuation orders, a former Lumberjack helps Tom Brady secure first Bucs win, large gatherings allowed because god, tree-sitters, and more.
