Six new COVID cases as Cuomo urges local enforcement - Rome Sentinel

Oneida County reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, for 99 known active cases.

Six patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of mid-day Friday, all in the Mohawk Valley Health System; one was a nursing home resident.

In addition to the 99 known cases, 633 people were in mandatory precautionary quarantine based on their contacts.

Regionally, indicators of the spread of COVID-19 in the six Mohawk Valley counties remained on Friday among the state’s lowest. The percentage of tests each day that indicate COVID-19 stood at 0.5% on a rolling seven-day average, and the number of new cases per 100,000 people over the past week was 2.91. Both were among the state’s lowest.The Finger Lakes’ daily cases number was 2.89 and positive test rate 0.6%, while the North Country had lower numbers: 0.2% and a 0.95 average of new daily cases.

Statewide, the seven-day positive test rate stood at 1.2 percent, but Gov. Andrew Cuomo said clusters downstate and in Broome County in the Southern Tier were still driving up the average. He warned that local governments that do not enforce public health orders can face a fine of up to $10,000 a day.

The Oneida County Health Department announced the following incidents of possible public exposure to a person who tested positive for COVID-19 and recommends that anyone at these locations at the respective times monitor themselves for symptoms:

Bethel Baptist Church, 215 Church St. in Prospect, 10-11 a.m. Sept. 20; self-monitor through Oct. 4.

Kohl’s, Clinton Street in New Hartford, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sept. 23; self-monitor through Oct. 7.

Grande’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, 9557 Main St., Holland Patent, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Sept. 23; self-monitor through Oct. 7.

Dollar General, 10372 Pritchard Road, Remsen, 10-10:15 a.m. Sept. 25; self-monitor through Oct. 9.

Tops, 261 Utica Blvd., Broonville, 3-3:15 p.m. Sept. 25; self-monitor through Oct. 9.

Sangertown Square including JC Penney, Boscov’s and Macy’s, in New Hartford, 3:30-5:15 p.m. Sept. 25; self-monitor through Oct. 9.

Walmart on Commercial Drive in New Hartford, 4:45-5:30 p.m. Sept. 25; self-monitor through Oct. 9.

Walmart on Horatio Street in Utica, 1;30-2 p.m. Sept. 26; self-monitor through Oct. 10.

Price Chopper on Genesee Street in Utica, 1:15-2 p.m. Sept. 27; self-monitor through Oct. 11.
