That’s when the Red Bulls’ postseason fate will be determined.
The Red Bulls (8-8-5, 29 points) host Toronto FC (13-4-5, 44) for Decision Day at Red Bull Arena on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
Playoff positioning will be on the line for both teams. Toronto FC can finish as high as first in the Eastern Conference or remain in second, while the Red Bulls can finish as high as sixth in the East and as low as eighth for the MLS Cup Playoffs.
In other words, the Red Bulls face a top six spot or a play-in match.
The Red Bulls and TFC will clash for the 34th time in the MLS regular-season and 17th time at Red Bull Arena during regular-season play. New York owns leads both in the all-time series, 16-9-8 and all-time at RBA during the regular-season, 12-2-2. The Red Bulls are unbeaten at RBA in the regular-season against Toronto FC in the last four matches, 3-0-1 and have outscored their opponent, 8-1 during that stretch.
New York has found an offensive rhythm in the final stretch of the campaign, recording at least one goal in its last 10 matches. The Red Bulls have scored 18 goals in last 10 games compared to only nine in their opening 12 matches.
