Last week, Square Enix announced that their upcoming 3D platformer Balan Wonderworld would be getting a free demo. If you’ve been waiting for this demo, wait no more, as today is the big day! Available now on the Switch eShop, the Balan Wonderworld demo lets you experience a small handful of the game’s content, including three of the twelve worlds and numerous costumes!
Alongside today’s demo, Square Enix launched a new trailer for the game, titled “True Happiness is an Adventure.” This trailer showcases the great variety of worlds, characters, and ability-granting costumes you can expect to find in the full game, set against a jaunty tune. In fact, it reminds me of trailers for upcoming animated films! Personally, I like the twisty M.C. Escher-esque castle, and the flower costume which allows you to grow tall. But with so many worlds and costumes, there’s bound to be something for everyone.
If you haven’t yet downloaded the Balan Wonderworld demo, be sure to head over to the eShop and give it a whirl, especially if you’ve already pre-ordered the game. While I haven’t personally played the demo yet, early impressions from some of our staff and around the Internet have described a largely lackluster experience. We’ll have a more detailed impressions piece soon, so be sure to check back for that in the coming days!
