UPDATE: We might have gotten ahead of ourselves with the “rolling” bit. Russell Wilson just connected with DK Metcalf for a 51-yard touchdown to cut the Rams lead to 13-10.
The Los Angeles Rams defense is putting on a show in the first half against the Seattle Seahawks. Aaron Donald has a pair of sacks and now cornerback Darious Williams has run back an interception of Russell Wilson for a touchdown. The pick-six gave the Rams a 13-3 lead in the back half of the second quarter.
What was absurd about the play was that it came on a screen pass. Lindsey Thiry noted that there were 784 screen passes targeting wide receivers this past regular season and none resulted in an interception. This particular play was targeting DK Metcalf with a screen pass.
Neither quarterback has impressed in the first half. Wilson has 44 yards and the interception, to go along with 22 rushing yards. John Wolford got the start for the Rams, but a hit to the head on a scramble knocked him out and brought Jared Goff back in. Goff has 50 passing yards on two completions.
