While exploring Castle Dimitrescu as the maiden, players learn quite a bit about the sinister inner workings of the castle and Lady Dimitrescu herself. While there's no clear date in which the Maiden demo takes place, it's obvious that the demo is set before the events of Resident Evil Village.

The Maiden demo is essentially a preface to the full game, serving as a slight introduction (and major tease) into the world and plot of Resident Evil Village.
