Gators Cap NCAA East Preliminary with Six More Eugene Tickets - Florida Gators

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida's women advanced six of its nine remaining entries during the final day of competition at the at the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville. In total, the Gators track and field program collected a combined 18 entries to this year's NCAA Outdoor Championships, 10 by the men and eight on the women's side.
 
Jumper Natricia Hooper secured Florida's first qualification of the day with her first leap in the triple jump. The junior logged a mark of 13.72 meters (45 feet 0.25 inches) [+1.9] to finish second and earn her first-career NCAA Outdoor Championships berth.
 
On the track, redshirt freshman Grace Stark matched her personal-best time of 12.88 [-1.6] seconds in the 100-meter hurdles to secure her ticket to Eugene. That time is the fourth-fastest in school history.
 
Sprinters Talitha Diggs and Taylor Manson also posted qualifying times that rank on UF's All-Time Outdoor Top 10 list.
 
Diggs ran the fifth-fastest time in program history, crossing in 51.04 seconds for a new personal record and a trip to Oregon. Manson will join Diggs out west, having crossed in 51.38 seconds. A new personal record for Manson, that time ranks seventh in UF history.
 
On the distance side, redshirt sophomore Gabrielle Wilkinson will represent the Gators in the 800 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The SEC champion in the 1,500 meters finished third in the 800 Saturday with a time of 2:02.04 to secured her second-career trip to nationals.
 
Florida's No. 1-seeded 4x400-meter relay team, comprised of Manson, Sterling Lester, Doneisha Anderson and Diggs, capped off the night with a first-place finish and the Gators' 10th consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championships berth. The squad logged a facility record time of 3:27.51, one 100th of a second short of their season best.
 
The top 48 individual and top 24 relay declarations within the East and West Regions earned berths to their respective preliminary meet, and only 12 from each regional competition advanced to the championship meet in Eugene, Oregon, slated for June 9-12.
