BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Of the nine former Hilltoppers on NFL rosters, six saw game action in Week 2 of the preseason schedule. Here is how the former WKU players did this past weekend:
New York Jets offensive tackle George Fant started and played a team-high 53 offensive snaps – 31 at left tackle and 22 at right tackle. He also played on special teams kick protection units. The visiting Jets defeated the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field by a score of 23-14.
Jets quarterback Mike White completed 7-of-9 passes (78%) for 39 yards and a quarterback rating of 84.7. After helping the Jets produce field goals in back-to-back drives in the second half, he was injured the following possession and left the game with a rib injury. In New York's team injury report on Monday, he was listed as day-to-day.
Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Jordan Meredith played 36 snaps at the left guard position, a week after playing 26 at right guard. He also played on special teams kick protection units. The Rams dropped a 17-16 decision to the visiting Las Vegas Raiders.
Chicago Bears linebacker Joel Iyiegbuniwe played 33 snaps on defense and 14 on multiple special teams units in the Bears' 41-15 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He tallied one tackle in the game.
Kansas City Chiefs safety Devon Key played 10 snaps on defense and three on special teams in the Chiefs' 17-10 victory against the Arizona Cardinals. He recorded on tackle in the game.
Houston Texans wide receiver Taywan Taylor played 23 snaps on offense and two on special teams in the Texans' 20-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys. He was targeted once but did not make a reception.
Veteran tight ends Jack Doyle of the Indianapolis Colts and Tyler Higbee of the Los Angeles Rams were healthy but did not play. Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Forrest Lamp did not play for a second-straight week, then was placed on Injured Reserve on Monday with a calf injury.
Former Hilltopper cornerback Dionté Ruffin and tight end Deon Yelder remain free agents.
