ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio football team wrapped up day six of fall camp on Wednesday morning at Peden Stadium. Following practice, we caught up with redshirt senior defensive lineman Kai Caesar (Cache, Okla.) to see how the first six days have gone.
"Camp has been great," Caesar noted. "Everyone is just working on their craft individually and we're trying to bring it as a team and bring the culture out and show these people what we can do."
Caesar was chosen as the defensive representative for the Bobcats' trip to MAC Media Day in late July, and has embraced being a leader so far during camp.
"The biggest thing for me is just staying consistent every single day, putting a smile on my face like I spoke about before," Caesar explained.
In a COVID-19 shortened season last year, Ohio only played three games, so ensuring the team's fitness is up to the task of the upcoming regular season has been a priority.
"Physically, we had a great summer," Caesar said. "Coach [Jake] Miller taught us how to recover our bodies when it's sore and how we can do it on our own. It's been hot but these coaches have been great on giving us water breaks, so it makes it a lot easier for us."
With it just as important for the players to enjoy their off-field free time, Caesar has embraced his leadership role in that regard as well.
"I like to check in on my guys and sometimes I like to cook for them or get them some Jamaican food from the Jamaican lady out here," explained Caesar. "Whatever I can do to keep a smile on everyone's face and show them that I'm here for them. We all can grow together."
