Cowley College’s Theatre Department is busy rehearsing for its fall play Six Characters in Search of an Author. The performance, which was adapted by Steve Moulds, will take place at 7:30 p.m. October 15-16, and 2 p.m. Sunday, October 17.
The premise of the story is six fictional characters, abandoned by their creator, invade a rehearsal in progress and demand to be brought to life by a new author. But the characters’ existential agenda collides with the more lighthearted ambitions of these theatre artists, whose open rehearsal “audience engagement event” becomes darkly entangled with the characters’ tragic story.
“Our production of Six Characters In Search of an Author is going to be an interesting experience for our audiences in many ways,” director of theatre Nick Albrecht said. “We are seating our audience on stage for this show with limited seating capacity of only 100 seats per performance and there will be a streaming video component for this audience as part of the show too. The concept behind Six Characters is perspectives and the hope is the audience will walk away with a new perspective on our stage, our company, and theatre in general.”
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for children, students and military personnel with ID. Tickets can be purchased at cowley.edu/boxoffice or by calling 620-441-5223.
