ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT men's soccer team opens the 2021 campaign on Wednesday (Sept. 1) at SUNY Brockport. Here are the top six things you need to know about the Tigers heading into the season.

1. RIT LOOKING FOR A RETURN TRIP TO THE POSTSEASON
The Tigers qualified for the Liberty League Tournament and advanced to the semifinals in 2019 for the second time in three years. RIT (6-9-3) clinched the sixth seed after finishing with four wins in conference play. The Tigers advanced on penalty kicks in the first round matchup against Vassar College after finishing locked in a 1-1 draw. Hobart advanced over RIT to the championship game on penalty kicks, the Tigers will once again be in the hunt for a Liberty League title.

2. LOTS OF NEW FACES IN 2021
With the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID pandemic, RIT will feature plenty of new faces on the roster in 2021. RIT will feature 10 players who were new to the roster in 2020, and 10 who are new to campus in 2021.

3. PLENTY OF CHANCE TO SHINE
With the loss of the Tigers top-3 goal scorers from 2019 which included 2019 Liberty League Co-Player of the Year Simon Garno, RIT will look to some new faces to put the ball in the back of the net in 2021. Junior Josh Price (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) returns after tallying a goal and an assist in 2019, while seniors Alec Jackson (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) and Bret Kaemmerlen (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) each tallied a goal. First-years Jaden Longdon (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg) and Pato Solis (McAllen, TX/St. Stephen's Episcopal) have been impressive in preseason and could see time up front in 2021.

4. SOME FAMILIAR FACES ON DEFENSE
Senior goalkeeper Spencer Raymond-Smith (Stow, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) returns for 2021 after a strong 2019 season that saw him make 10 appearances, including six starts. Raymond-Smith finished with four wins and recorded a 0.91 goals against average and a .771 save percentage. He made a season-high seven saves against Clarkson and picked up the win late in the season against Ithaca that helped the Tigers clinch a playoff berth. Senior Adam Wuest (Hilton, NY/Hilton) played in 13 games in 2019, tallying four points on a goal and two assists. Juniors Randy Dickersbach (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) and Joe Moon (Voorhees, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) each saw significant minutes in 2019 on defense.

5. EXPERIENCE IN THE MIDFIELD
Graduate student Nathan Nuwer (Alden, NY/Alden) will help lead a young RIT midfield. Nuwer, seniors Cam Shuman (Rochester, NY/Churhcville-Chili) both saw major minutes in 2019. They will help solidify the center of the field for the Tigers in 2021.

6. 2021 SCHEDULE
RIT head coach Bill Garno, now in his 26th season, and the Tigers are scheduled to play 17 regular season games, which include nine in the highly competitive Liberty League. The Tigers will play nine games at home on RIT's Turf Field and eight away. RIT opens the season playing seven straight non-conference games including on the road at SUNY Brockport September 1. The Tigers host Mount Aloysius (Sept. 4) and Nazareth (Sept. 5) as part of the Doug May Memorial Classic, and host Keuka (Sept. 8) and SUNY Oswego (Sept. 11). After road contests at Rochester (Sept. 14) and SUNY Oneonta (Sept. 18), RIT closes out September with two conference games at Hobart (Sept. 22) and at home against Vassar (Sept. 25). Seven of the Tigers eight games in October are against Liberty League foes. RIT begins the month at home against Clarkson before four straight road games at Houghton, St. Lawrence, Rensselaer and Skidmore. The Tigers close out the regular season with three straight homes games against Bard (Oct. 23), Ithaca (Oct. 26) and Union (Oct. 30).
