CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland entrepreneur and inventor Greg Getzinger will appear on the “The Drew Barrymore Show” Tuesday to share his Lasagna Portion PadL, a tool for cutting uniform size portions of the food.
Getzinger will demonstrate the tool for Barrymore and Mark Cuban of “Shark Tank” as part of the show’s Pasta Week celebration. “The Drew Barrymore Show” airs weekdays at 5 p.m. on CBS.
Getzinger, who previously owned and operated Pizza Bogo in Hudson, developed the first Portion PadL 12 years ago to help his employees efficiently cut pizza into equal slices for his first school lunch account. The product was so successful, he was able to sell the pizza shop and found Nuova Vita Corporation, which makes food tools that are “simple to use and easy to clean.”
“One of my customers, Tony Parasson, the owner of Parasson’s Italian Restaurants in Akron, asked me to solve this problem that his employees couldn’t cut lasagna into equal slices. So I went and checked out the pan that he uses and I took it to my manufacturer, showed them the pan and told them what I thought should happen and it worked,” Getzinger told cleveland.com.
That was in late 2019, and since then Getzinger has sold thousands of units, he said.
The opportunity for Getzinger to feature his product on Barrymore’s show happened as a result of an inquiry someone posted in a Facebook group called Independent Inventors Help that he responded to.
“And so I went through an interview process with the show and they liked my Lasagna Portion PadL and they sent me to be on the ‘The Drew Barrymore Show,’” he said.
While Getzinger’s products are intended for commercial applications, they are also available for sale for residential use. Pizza Portion PadLs come in round and rectangular shapes and in several sizes. The Portion PadL is made from food-safe resin and paper and is made in the USA.
