Want to play a game where a you're a wildly irresponsible, extremely dangerous police officer with a suite of armaments you probably shouldn't have fighting equally-overarmed villains in a dystopian future city? Well, aspiring cyborg-cop or dreadful judge-jury-executioner type, there's an upcoming game for you: Mega City Police.
Mega City Police is an action roguelike about blasting your way through city streets overrun with viciously psychopathic criminals out for blood. After choosing one of a few character archetypes you go into top-down shooter action against hordes of enemies and bosses. As you go, you pick up cool new weapons and special abilities to customize and define your playstyle.
The prelude version of Mega City Police is out now, and lets you play the first 2 levels of the game as any of the 4 playable police officer classes. The full game intends to have more outfits, officers, guns, abilities, and more stylish future police cars to drive.
It's pretty dang stylish, to boot, sporting retro-styled graphics that bend at the corners for that CRT monitor vibe and overflowing with chunky, squat pixel art of the late 90s Metal Slug school. It's overlaid with a synthwave soundtrack sure to make you, uh, synth some waves or something—it's by Australian artist Droid Bishop(opens in new tab).
The "Prelude" demo has some neat stuff going on. I got pretty attached to the Cyborg officer, who can carry more weapons and take more hits than others. That's because I think it is good when you have lots of varied ways to blow things up. I will not be dissuaded in this belief, thanks. It's not certified for now, but this one's going to be prime Steam Deck material for me.
You can find Mega City Police: Prelude(opens in new tab) on Steam alongside the game proper, Mega City Police(opens in new tab), which will release "soon." It's developed by Amsterdam-based Undreamed Games(opens in new tab), aka Andreu Accensi, and published by Batumi, Georgia-based Ravenage Games(opens in new tab).

The Historical Commission this week voted to begin the 60-day process for a public hearing that will happen by the end of June.
Due to a misunderstanding of the process, the theater had lapsed on the 60-day public hearing window based on an August decision to deem it historically significant. Rather than making the organization restart its application, the panel on Tuesday decided to move forward with the public hearing process.
The carriage house is located behind the Thaddeus Clapp House on Wendell Avenue, which was built in 1871.
After BTG spent more than $1 million to restore the Clapp House, a professional assessment indicated that the best path forward for the barn is to take it down. In the future, the theater sees more artist housing in that space but there are no immediate plans for construction.
"We don't come here gleefully wanting to take this barn down," Executive Director Nick Paleologos said.
"If we saw any path to salvaging it, we would take it but the funds aren't there, the building, as you saw yourself and as [Bradley Architects] indicated, is really quite terrible shape."
Bradley Architects was hired to analyze the timber-frame barn and deemed it "beyond repair" due to a lack of a foundation, compromised structure, lack of utilities, water-damaged interior, and weather-destroyed exterior.
A letter from the architects says the structure's sill plate is rotted out along almost the entire perimeter, that there are several holes in the roof causing water damage, that the asphalt roofing is beyond service, that windows are damaged or missing, and that the building's utilities are destroyed from neglect.
Even if BTG could secure a stamp of approval for a refurbishment, he explained that securing funding has been a heavy lift now more than ever.
"Partially because, and I'm sure you've probably noticed this, but for the first time in seven decades, one of our competitors the Williamstown Theatre Festival has just decided not to produce a season this year and the ripple effect across the culturals has been dramatic, including ourselves," Paleologos said.
"I mean, this year, the first year after federal funds ended for the COVID emergency, is the most challenging for all of the culturals. It impacted them in one way and it's impacting us in another so every available dollar that we're able to raise right now has to go to basically keeping the doors open. We have existential operational issues that we didn't have last year, but we have them now, so our focus has shifted somewhat."
In this environment, the theater will no the able to build on the footprint right away but demolition will eliminate blight and make way for more parking.
Last year, the commission took a tour of the property to better understand its condition.
"I think it's pretty far gone," Matthew Herzberg said. "I think it has no discernible foundation. Certainly, not something that could be reused in something like housing or anything like that."
Members speculated that the public hearing process might bring interest in saving the structure.
"The purpose of the demolition delay is Berkshire Theatre Group has done a little bit of outreach to people they know by considering a one-year delay on it," Chair John Dickson said.
"We would be letting the public know a little bit broader and wider and maybe, working with other people who we know and working with Berkshire Theatre Group to see what else might be out there."
Ann-Marie Harris said the panel owes it to the public to get the word out and hear opinions.
"It's just that it's such a beautiful building and it's so historic that it's sad to think it no longer has a function or a meaning," Carol Nichols said.
In other news, the commission approved a demolition delay for a vacant deteriorated house and garage at 54 Mervyn St. and a demolition delay for an old single-family structure behind a main house on 1480 West St.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Area students were able to get hands-on experience and learn about careers in construction.
The North Dakota Construction Leadership Council held a Demo Day event at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds. Students got to operate heavy equipment and meet leaders in the industry to see if a job in construction might be in their future. People already working in construction say they also hope to spark interest to fill workforce gaps.
”North Dakota is such a great spot for the companies that we have here and everyone’s short on workforce, so this is just one way to try to bridge that gap with workforce and to try to get kids interested in the construction field,” said NDCLC President David Goulet.
Event organizers say if students want to learn more, they can help guide you toward educational programs, internships, training and employment. Click here to learn more.
This week's episode of "AEW Dynamite" promised an announcement of some sort from Tony Khan and had solid name value spread throughout the show, which also featured the shocking debut of Roderick Strong, who was believed to be under WWE contract. It wasn't necessarily a loaded show on paper, but it held up fairly well in viewership compared to recent weeks.
According to ShowBuzzDaily and Wrestlenomics, "Dynamite" averaged 863,000 viewers across its two hours (up 4% week to week), approximately 365,000 of which were in the "key demo" most valued by advertisers, adults aged 18 to 49 (no change from last week). The latter figure translates to a 0.28 demo rating, which earned the show ninth place in ShowBuzzDaily's rankings of the day's cable originals. Of the eight shows ahead of "Dynamite" on cable in the key demo, only one, "Vanderpump Rules" on Bravo, was not some form of NBA or NHL playoff coverage.
For a bigger picture of how the show performed compared to recent trends, the Wrestlenomics Patreon page tracks viewership across various demographics relative to the median of the prior four weeks. By that metric, the biggest movement, percentage-wise, was seen in decreases in the female viewer demographics, with female viewers aged 12 to 34 dropping 28%, and women aged 18 to 49 dipping by 12%. The biggest percentage gain came in male viewers aged 12 to 34, with a 10% increase. Overall, though, the numbers have stayed fairly steady as of late, as AEW builds to May's Double or Nothing event.

Highly anticipated: Users waiting to benchmark Street Fighter 6 on their PCs or get a headstart on building an avatar for use in the PC and Xbox versions can do so now. The free demo contains two characters, some tutorials, and a taste of the World Tour story mode.
Players can download the free demo for Capcom's upcoming Street Fighter 6 on Steam and the Xbox Store. The demo initially launched last week on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 but expanded to PC and Xbox Series consoles today.
Unlike the previous closed betas, the Street Fighter 6 demo will likely remain available indefinitely, as Capcom doesn't mention an end date. Although it doesn't contain the online Battle Hub, it will give a thorough feel for the fighting system in a few other modes.
The demo allows players to select between two playable characters – Ryu and Luke. Users can play traditional offline one-on-one battles with another human player or a bot. The trial also previews the new Extreme Battle mode, which adds stage gimmicks and special win conditions to matches. Two stages are available in the demo – the training room and Genbu Temple.
Players less familiar with Street Fighter or those who want to hone their skills can try the tutorials and guides. The tutorials run beginners through the game's three control styles:
The traditional six-button layout,
The new three-button "modern" layout (makes executing special moves easier),
The super-accessible auto-combo "dynamic" style.
The character guides run players through the unique aspects of each character.
Additionally, the demo contains an early portion of the World Tour story mode, where players build avatars while exploring the game world and fighting other characters. Although World Tour progress from the demo doesn't carry into the game, avatars do, so long as users keep their save files and play the full release on the same platform.
Capcom also published PC system requirements for Street Fighter 6, which are on par with many recent releases. The minimum specs list an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 CPU, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 GPU, 8GB of system RAM, and 4GB of VRAM. The game recommends an i7 8700 or Ryzen 5 3600, an RTX 2070 or RX 5700XT, 16GB of system RAM, and 6GB of VRAM.
The system spec list doesn't indicate expected resolutions or graphics settings, but 60fps is always the target framerate for fighting games. The requirements apply to the demo, but the final game specs could change before release.
Street Fighter 6 launches Friday, June 2, on Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series consoles.

Steam Puzzle Fest kicks off today, offering tons of discounts on all of your favourite puzzle games. Really, though, one of the best experiences you can have this Steam Puzzle Fest week is by downloading the free demo for upcoming puzzler Viewfinder. Developed by Sad Owl Studios, I had a sneaky peek at this at GDC last month and was properly blown away by it. It might look like just another Witness-like, but don't be fooled. There are some real smart ideas in here, and I dare you not to go 'OooOOOooooOOOooooh' when you see the in-game photos you take come to life in all their full, 3D explorable glory.
As you can see in the trailer above, Viewfinder is all about perspective. For reasons, you possess a neat little polaroid camera whose photos let you transform the landscape around you wherever you plonk them down. You can then go into those photos as if they're part of the level, and you'll be slapping 'em down all over the place to solve puzzles, traverse its abstract landscapes and more over the course of the demo.
What I loved best about my time with Viewfinder, though, was how each photo's individual art style was translated into an explorable, 3D space. Applying a picture of a watercolour painting, for example, will be transform the space into a gorgeous haze of fussy brushstrokes, letting you walk around it as if it were a proper location. There are also sketch drawings to oogle at, transporting you to scenes made up of beautiful cross-hatching pencil work, and even the odd 8-bit video game landscape to admire as well.
You can also rotate photos upside down, causing any objects in them to fall to the ground in front of you - a handy trick if you need to reach something that's otherwise out of your jump range. It's real clever stuff, and best of all, there's a grey, fluffy cat that's seemingly made out of spaghetti that accompanies you on your journey as well. Take that, The Witness.
Viewfinder is currently set for release at an unknown date later in 2023, but after playing the GDC demo, it's definitely shot to the top of my 'keep an eye on' list (together with The Thaumaturge, of course). So why not try the Viewfinder "Snapshot" demo to see for yourself? It's free, after all, and samples some early and later game puzzles to put your viewfinding skills to the test.
You can also check out the rest of Steam Puzzle Fest right here, which runs from April 24th to May 1st.
A demo for innovative first-person puzzle game Viewfinder is now available on Steam.
The debut game from Scottish developer Sad Owl Studios, Viewfinder is a puzzle game that plays with perspective.
Early on, players must discover photos around the world which they then place and step into to progress. Later, they're equipped with a camera to take pictures of the surroundings, which can then be placed and moved into to solve puzzles. Check out the trailer below to see it in action.
I played a demo of Viewfinder recently at WASD in London and it was one of the most intriguing games at the show.
The use of photography allows for multiple solutions to puzzles. For instance, one puzzle required me to collect batteries to fire up a teleporting machine; a battery was placed on a pedestal too high to reach, but taking photos of the surrounding environment provided multiple ways to acquire the battery.
The game also plays with art styles, as the photos discovered range from painterly to pixels.
Make a mistake and you can rewind time to rectify.
I've dipped into the new Steam demo and it appears to be the same as what I played - I can thoroughly recommend downloading it and giving it a try!
Viewfinder currently has a release date of 2023 and is heading to PC and PS5. The demo is available for free on Steam.
Capcom just hosted its final Street Fighter 6(opens in new tab) showcase before its June 2 release. We were treated to some extra deets on the story-focused World Tour mode, Fighting Grounds mode, some bits of training, and ways the game is being super newbie friendly. Oh, and Lil Wayne was there too. The end of the presentation dropped the (slightly spoiled) surprise that a demo was dropping right after this livestream.
Unfortunately, those of us on PC and Xbox are going to have to wait to join in on the fun. The demo's only available for people on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for the first week. Everyone else will have access from April 26 and presumably up until launch.
When the demo does arrive on PC, it'll offer a "tiny peek" of the full release. There's a segment of the tutorial included, along with being able to practice Luke and Ryu in the newly announced character guide. We'll also be able to try out a small portion of World Tour's opening moments, which means the chance to play around with the custom character creator. You can create some absolute goblins(opens in new tab) in that thing and I can't wait to see everyone's horrendous concoctions. Even better, created characters can be carried over to the full release. A blessing considering how in-depth and lengthy its customisation options are.
No online this time sadly, so those who missed out on last year's closed betas will have to wait until the full release to peep the Battle Hub and play with friends. It makes sense that the demo is more focused around singleplayer, but it's a shame I can't run around the lobby with my little gremlin creation and terrorise my pals.
What's included in the Street Fighter 6 demo:
Learn basic battle mechanics from the tutorial
Practice Luke and Ryu's fighting style in the character guide

You’ll meet iconic Masters and experience the world of Street Fighter with your own custom avatar as you hit the streets of Metro City, Nayshall, and other locations around the world in this new single-player story mode.
We introduced a number of RPG elements as well. You can consume items and food during battle or at eateries to recover Vitality, acquire buffs, or inflict debuffs. As you level up your avatar, you’ll earn Skill Points to spend on a Skill Tree to further customize your tailor-made move set.
Become a student of your favorite Masters – including all 18 launch characters – by Enrolling in their style and learning their Special Moves! Increase your bonds with Masters by giving them presents and completing Missions. Combine all of this to unlock new cutscenes as you form personal connections with these legendary fighters.
Show Off Your Style with Custom Avatar Battles
Build up your unique character in World Tour and then head into Battle Hub to join custom Avatar Battles against other players online! Use your avatar with Dhalsim’s fighting style, Zangief’s Screw Piledriver, and Ken’s Hadoken, or any other combination of abilities you’ve learned in World Tour to show off your own personal fighting style. Be wary because your opponent might have come up with an even wilder palette of moves.
Innovation in Accessibility
Street Fighter 6 is committed to supporting increased accessibility with innovative sound design that tells you how far away you are from your opponent, the height level of attacks, whether an attack is a cross-up, how much Drive Gauge remains, and more.
For newcomers and veterans alike, there are fleshed out Tutorials, Character Guides, and Combo Trials, which provide a solid foundation for each character.
Our third Control Type to go along with Classic and Modern is Dynamic, where you can unleash a character’s flashy moves by pressing the Auto-Attack button and having AI assist your attacks and combos!
Classic Fighting Game Experiences with Some Extra Spice
Arcade Mode is a single-player mode where you’ll face off against the computer and learn more about each fighter’s story. Complete Arcade Mode with each character to unlock and view beautiful illustrations in the Gallery. Your scores can also be uploaded to online leaderboards!
Play against other players or the computer by creating a team of up to 5 characters and customize the Match Format to your liking such as Single Elimination, Doubles, and Teams.
Extreme Battle introduces rulesets you’ll need to follow, along with fun features like Running Bulls or our own special version of hot potato. Play in Extreme Battle to learn more about the basics of the game or to unleash pure havoc at a party.
Play online against other players by creating a Custom Room. The four virtual cabinets in the room can be set to One on One, Extreme Battle, or Training. Custom Rooms can now include up to 16 players at a time and makes Online Training and Match Spectating easier than ever before!

Ranked Matches return and we’ve taken steps to reduce the pressure of losing a match in certain Ranks. First, we’ve added a one-time Rank-down protection feature for those in Diamond rank and below. Next, Rookies will no longer lose League Points upon defeat to encourage online play. Finally, Iron-Gold and Master rank players will not incur League demotions. Each character also has their own individual Rank, so trying new characters in Ranked Matches is more approachable than ever.
Wait—There’s More!
As a celebration of the entire Street Fighter series, we’re introducing the Battle Damage Feature! During fights, characters will get sweatier, develop cuts and bruises, along with other signs of heated battle appearing on their faces and clothing. This is only available in certain offline modes and can be turned off in Settings.
We showed off how players can create a Club in the Battle Hub to play with friends and find like-minded players. Customize your Club emblem and design a uniform that only your Club’s members can show off.

And finally, the legend himself, the beast, the transcendent Akuma will rage into Street Fighter 6 in spring 2024! It will let you play the first part of the World Tour mode and create an avatar for use in the main game. The demo arrives next week on April 26th, with more details in the video below.
The developer also unveiled the first four playable characters for the game's first year: Rashid (summer 2023), A.K.I. (autumn - 2023), Akuma (spring 2024), and Ed (winter 2024).
Capcom also detailed the single-player Street Fighter 6 modes. As mentioned, one is called is World Tour. There, you can level up avatars, explore Metro City and other locations, and interact with famous characters from Street Fighter and Capcom lore. some of those include Haggar, Carlos Miyamoto and others. We learned previously that the upcoming entry to the fighting franchise will come out for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game will include Luke, a key DLC character for Street Fighter V, as well as fan favorites Ryu and Chun-Li. With the Evil Dead: The Game – Game of the Year Edition releasing right around the corner, Saber Interactive and developer Boss Team Games have dropped a little tease on Twitter for the new DLC that will be included in the GotY edition. The “Who’s Your Daddy” pack, which will include several new outfits, including the Ashy Slashy outfit! You can see just what to expect from the short clip below.
The “Who’s Your Daddy” pack, which features Lee Majors‘ Brock Williams from “Ash vs. Evil Dead” as a new Survivor, alongside a new Demon in The Schemer, will also be available as a standalone purchase. It’s not clear as of yet of the other five DLCs are included with Evil Dead: The Game – Game of the Year Edition, though the previous press release states that they feature “a range of bonus playable Survivors and Demons with unique powers and abilities, as well as tons of cosmetics to customize your experience.”
More than likely (according to the glimpses on the game’s Steam page), one of the other DLCs included will be the Splatter Royale DLC, which adds a new mode allowing players to battle up for 40 Deadites to see who will come out on top.
The new Evil Dead: The Game – Game of the Year Edition will arrive for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for the Epic Games Store and Steam on April 26.
It wasn’t him doc, it was some Evil BS.

Bittersweet day up at Whistler Blackcomb as they began the planned demolition of the Fitzsimmons Express Chairlift.
The 4-person lift known by locals as Fitz was installed in 2000 and will be replaced by a high speed 8-pack. While the video below may look destructive, much of the existing Fitz chair will be repurposed. The rope is destined for Breckenridge and the grips are going to Whistler’s Peak Chair. The chairs will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation.

German prosecutors say they have determined that climate protesters weren’t responsible for the death in October of a cyclist after their road blockade caused a delay in the arrival of a rescue vehicle at an accident scene
ByThe Associated Press
April 13, 2023, 6:03 AM
BERLIN -- German prosecutors said Thursday they have determined that climate protesters weren't responsible for the death in October of a cyclist after their road blockade caused a delay in the arrival of a rescue vehicle at an accident scene.
The Oct. 31 incident in Berlin fueled controversy over the tactics of the Last Generation group, whose actions also have included throwing mashed potatoes at a Claude Monet painting in an art museum and disrupting traffic at airports. Chancellor Olaf Scholz urged activists to show “creativity” and avoid endangering others.
Berlin's fire service said at the time that blockades resulted in officers with special rescue equipment getting stuck in traffic as they rushed to help a seriously injured cyclist who got stuck under a cement mixer.
Prosecutors in the German capital said Thursday that they looked into whether the death of the cyclist could have been prevented if it hadn't been for a delay caused by two Last Generation activists accused of causing the partial closure of a highway by hanging banners from a traffic sign and gluing themselves to it.
They found that the blockade did cause an eight-minute delay to the arrival of a rescue vehicle. But they said that wasn't significant to the cyclist's fate as a doctor had already determined that using the vehicle's equipment likely would have worsened the victim's condition further and another course of action made more sense.
An autopsy later found that the cyclist had already suffered such severe injuries in the accident that her life couldn't have been saved, prosecutors said in a statement.
They said that the activists have been charged with coercion and resisting enforcement officers over the protest, but they won't face charges related to the injury or death of the cyclist.
The prosecutors' decision came as climate activists gear up for a new round of protests in Berlin in the coming days and weeks. They point to what they say is the government's failure to properly address the threat of climate change.
