Telesat said Tuesday its demonstration satellite aboard Rocket Lab's Electron rocket launched successfully as part of a rideshare program.
The satellite operator said its LEO 3 satellite, built by Space Flight Laboratory, was launched from Mahia, New Zealand and features Ka- and V-band payloads to provide continuity for customer and ecosystem vendor testing campaigns.
The separation of the satellite from the rocket occurred nearly two hours after liftoff and achieved signal acquisition, solar arrays deployment and passed all its initial health tests.
