Demolition had been planned after the first fire, two years ago.
It burned once, in the summer of 2022; and the now vacant Madison Apartments on First Hill suffered another fire on New Year's Day. As the DJC reported last fall, demolition plans were then underway for the gutted, century-old structure at 823 Madison St.
