A permit has been issued to allow for the demolition of a small building to make way for Giarratana LLC’s distinctive high-rise residential building at 900 Church St.
A July groundbreaking is eyed.
The one-story building (pictured) previously housed the downtown YMCA of Middle Tennessee’s administrative offices. The main Y facility is located in the next block west at 1000 Church St.
Demo Plus will handle the job, with the permit valued at $41,500.
900 Church will stand 34 stories and 416 feet tall and carry a price tag of about $160 million. Of note, it will not offer parking.
The local office of Birmingham-based Brasfield & Gorrie will serve as general contractor. Barge Design Solutions is handling engineering and land planning efforts. Chicago-based Goettsch Partners is the architect for the tower (see more images and read more here).
Tony Giarratana, the locally based company’s president, previously told the Post the focus will be to offer housing to many of the workers to eventually take space in the Amazon and Asurion buildings that will be located nearby at Nashville Yards and in the North Gulch, respectively. A summer 2022 completion is being eyed.
Madison property sells for $1M+

The sellers were two individuals who paid $100,000 for the property in May 2007, seemingly purchasing from a relative who paid the same amount in 1994, according to Metro records.
The Post was unable to determine at publication time if brokers were involved in the transaction.
