Hatsune Miku may have had her exciting Coachella debut postponed because of COVID-19, but that doesn’t mean the virtual Japanese popstar can’t still make some big moves in 2020. While the blue-haired digital songstress is known for her singing and dancing, she’s also the face behind the incredibly popular Project Diva rhythm game series. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the long-running Vocaloid music game franchise, the latest entry in the series is packing all sorts of colorful content in for diehard fans of Miku and the gang. Not only has it just been confirmed that Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Mega Mix is coming to Nintendo Switch in North America on May 15, but excited fans can download a free demo of the game via the Nintendo Switch eShop right now.
Project Diva games are usually notorious for only having a few dozen songs to choose from, but Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Mega Mix bucks the trend by having over 101 songs from the massive Vocaloid catalog to choose from. There are also over 300 different costumes to unlock and wear as Miku and her virtual friends dance to the music. If you want even more visual variety, a new T-Shirt editor lets you design custom shirts for the characters to wear. Standard button-based controls have you tapping along to the songs, but a new motion-controlled Mix mode also lets you play the game in a brand new way.
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Mega Mix is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch on May 15. A free demo is currently available on the European and Australian eShops, and will likely be up for download in North America soon.
