Jackson County reports six more coronavirus cases - MLive.com

JACKSON, MI – Jackson County reported six more confirmed COVID-19 cases Monday.

The Jackson County Health Department reports a cumulative 366 positive cases and 22 deaths connected to the novel coronavirus.

The five-day moving average of cases has declined in Jackson County, said Jackson County health officer Rashmi Travis in a news release.

In Jackson County, 169 COVID-19 patients are men, and 197 cases are women, per the Jackson County Health Department.

Eighteen percent of Jackson County cases involve patients between age 50 and 59, while nearly 20 percent of patients are from 40 to 49 years old. About 18 percent of of patients were 60 to 69.

Positive COVID-19 results from the prisons in Jackson County are not included in the county numbers.

The total number of COVID-19 cases at Parnall Correctional Facility was 177, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Of the inmates who tested positive, 69 have recovered and were moved to a step-down unit where they’re kept from contact with others prisoners, according to MDOC.

There were 73 Parnall employees who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to MDOC.

The G. Robert Cotton Facility had 658 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1141 negative test results, with three results pending. No deaths have occurred due to COVID-19, per MDOC. There are 18 employees with the virus. One inmate has been moved to the recovery unit.

There were 47 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus at the Charles E. Egeler Reception and Guidance Center, with 38 negative tests and eight pending results. Six inmates have been moved to the step-down unit, two are considered recovered by MDOC and four inmates have died from COVID-19, per MDOC. Twenty-four employees have confirmed cases of COVID-19.

There were 33 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the Duane Waters Health Center with 34 negative test results and two pending. Two inmate deaths have occurred No employees have tested positive for coronavirus, according to MDOC. One inmate has moved to the step-down unit.
