Spartan Hockey Adds Six to Incoming Class - Michigan State University Athletics - Michigan State Athletics

EAST LANSING – Michigan State head coach Danton Cole announced today (May 14) the addition of six players to the Spartans incoming class for this fall. Charlie Combs (F/Bemidji State), Powell Connor (D/Trail Smoke Eaters), Kyle Haskins (F/Waterlook Black Hawks), A.J. Hodges (F/Sioux City Musketeers), Nash Nienhuis (D/Omaha Lancers) and Jon Mor (G/Langley Rivermen) have all signed to join the Spartans for 2020-21. They will join the previously announced signees Pierce Charleson (G/Brooks Bandits), Calvin Dybicz (D/Tri-City Storm), Aiden Gallacher (D/Youngstown Phantoms) and Kristof Papp (F/Madison Capitols).
 
"We are excited here at Spartan Hockey to welcome these new members to our program," MSU head coach Danton Cole said. "They add to the depth, talent and leadership of this year's class. This class is now complete and we are enthusiastic about the roles they will play in the next four years and look forward to seeing these young men and Spartan Hockey grow together."

Produced 60 points, including 36 goals and 24 assists, in 108 career games over three seasons for Bemidji State from 2017-20 … Recorded double-digit goal totals – 13, 11, 12 (respectively) – in each of his three seasons for the Beavers … Appeared in 33 games as a junior, recording 12 goals and six assists for 18 points … Tied for second on the team with three game-winning goals and was second in shots on goal with 113 … Was named to the WCHA All-Academic team in 2019-20 … Ranked second on the team in 2018-19 with 22 points, including 11 goals, which tied for the team lead … Tied for the team lead in power-play goals (4) and led BSU in shots on goal (119) … Produced a career-high 13 goals as a freshman and ranked fifth on the team with 20 points … Was second in power-play goals (5) and led the team in shots on goal (128) … Played two seasons (2015-17) for the Wenatchee Wild of the BCHL prior to enrolling at Bemidji State … Was a BCHL First Team All-Star in 2016-17.

Has played the last four seasons in the BCHL … Was third among all Trail defensemen in points in 2019-20 with a career high 27 … His 21 assists ranked second among the team's blueliners … Played for Canada West at the 2019 World Junior A Challenge … Recorded 11 points (2g, 9a) in 47 games in 2018-19, while adding five assists in 12 playoff games for Trail … Played the 2017-18 season for the Chilliwack Chiefs where he was second in points (21) and assists (19) among the team's defensemen … Helped lead Chilliwack to the 2018 RBC Cup title … Made his BCHL debut in 2016-17, playing 49 regular season games for Chilliwack, producing 16 points (3g, 13a) … Saw action in 23 playoff games as well as a rookie, helping Chilliwack to the BCHL Fred Page Cup final.

Finished his second season with the Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL) in 2019-20, registering 11 goals and seven assists for 18 points in 48 games … Tied for fourth on the team with three power-play goals … Recorded six points (4g, 2a) over a span of six games from Dec. 7-31 … Was fourth on the team with 119 shots on goal … Put up 25 points, including 12 goals and 13 assists, in his first USHL season with Waterloo in 2018-19 … Posted a plus-14 rating …. Ranked third on the team with three points in four games in the 2019 USHL playoffs … Played three seasons at Selects Academy (South Kent, Conn.) where he put up 80 points (30g, 50a) in 54 games as a midget in 2017-18, helping the team to the U-18 national championship.

Was second in scoring in his first USHL season for the Sioux City Musketeers with 30 points, including 17 goals and 13 assists … Had a team-high three game-winning goals and was fourth with three power-play markers … Played his first 35 games of 2019-20 with the Muskegon Lumberjacks before being dealt to Sioux City … Was named the USHL Forward of the Week on March 5 after putting up six points (3g, 3a) in two games … Played the 2018-19 season in the BCHL for the Wenatchee Wild where he had 35 points (14g, 21a) in 54 games … Played two years of U16 hockey for the Colorado Thunderbirds.

Played 10 regular season games for the Langley Rivermen of the BCHL to end the 2019-20 season, posting a .889 save percentage and 3.56 GAA … Started 2019-20 with the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL, playing 12 games … Spent 2018-19 in the USHL – playing 14 games for the Youngstown Phantoms with a 3.57 GAA and .880 save percentage and 12 games for the Omaha Lancers, sporting a 3.57 GAA and .893 save percentage … Played 2017-18 with the U.S. National Team Development Program, including being in goal for 20 games for the U-18 team … Played youth hockey for the Chicago Young Americans.
