APPLETON - Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Appleton rose by six, the city health department said Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 110.
The announcement comes as Wisconsin broke its all-time record for the number of people tested for coronavirus in a single day, with nearly 16,000 people tested for the virus within a 24-hour period.
All of the residents newly confirmed to have the virus live in the Outagamie County portion of the city, according to a news release. Five of the residents are currently isolated at home and contracted the virus from contact with another known case. The other resident acquired the virus from community spread and the case is pending investigation.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 65 Appleton residents are currently in isolation, 41 residents who had COVID-19 have been released from isolation and one case is "pending investigation." Three residents have died from the virus.
