Santa Clara County has opened six pop-up sites offering free coronavirus testing in various cities this week.
The sites — in Cupertino, Los Altos, Palo Alto and San José — will provide COVID-19 nasal swab tests without requiring an appointment, insurance or a doctor’s note as part of a broader effort to make testing more accessible throughout the county.
Officials have called for asymptomatic people in particular, plus frontline workers and anyone who attended mass protests recently, to utilize pop-up and drive-thru testing — adding that those with symptoms should seek care from a healthcare provider.
In late May, the county piloted a pop-up testing site with a bus testing site in Mountain View.
