Six former Ravens still on the market - Baltimore Beatdown

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

After reaching the maximum of 90 players, the Baltimore Ravens seem to be locked into their current roster heading into training camp. They entered free agency with 21 players set to hit the open market. Several players were re-signed including Matt Judon, Jimmy Smith, and Pernell McPhee, while others such as Josh Bynes and Michael Pierce signed elsewhere. However, there were some Ravens that hit free agency and still have not signed a deal. Here are six remaining free agents that spent time on last season's 53 man roster:

  • S Tony Jefferson - Jefferson was cut in February to save $7 million in cap space. He only played five games last season after suffering an ACL injury in Week 5 against the Steelers. Chuck Clark replaced the injured Jefferson in the starting lineup and played well. He was subsequently signed to a three-year contract extension. Jefferson is still just one season removed from a solid 2018 season and can be a productive player when given the opportunity.
  • CB Brandon Carr - Like Jefferson, the Ravens moved on from Carr in order to save cap space. Declining Carr's option saved the Ravens $6 million. Amazingly, Carr has started every single game since entering the league in 2008. His streak of 192 consecutive starts is the longest active streak among defensive players.
  • DT Domata Peko - Peko was a midseason addition. He was signed after Michael Pierce suffered an ankle injury, and Daylon Mack landed on the IR. Peko started three games and played in seven total games recording 14 tackles.
  • G Parker Ehinger - Ehinger was a fourth-round pick by the Chiefs in 2016 and has dealt with a variety of knee injuries in his career. He got one start against the Steelers in Week 17.
  • S Brynden Trawick - Trawick began his career with the Ravens in 2013. After spending time with the Raiders and Titans, Trawick was brought back last August. He is primarily a special teams contributor. He played 129 special teams snaps and only 11 defensive snaps in 2019.
  • C Hroniss Grasu - Grasu spent part of the 2018 season in Baltimore and started one game, but he was released only two months after he was signed. After being signed and released by the Dolphins and Titans, the Ravens claimed him off waivers. Grasu recorded only one snap last season.
