BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. – Columbus Township Fire and Rescue, the German Township Volunteer Fire Department (GTVFD), and the Harrison Township Fire Department were all dispatched to a Bartholomew County barn fire on Saturday in the 4000 block of County Road 500W, just south of Lowell Road.
To fight the blaze, one attack line was used to cover a 70-gallon fuel tank near the fire, while the other line attacked the fire. A GTVFD tanker was utilized to shuttle water to the scene because there are no hydrants in the area.
During the incident, the Columbus Township commander requested a second alarm, which brought the Wayne Township, Southwest Volunteer, and Clay Township Fire Departments to the scene.
There was no report of injuries or a cause for the blaze.
