Have your say: Would you break the Rule of Six at Christmas to see family? - Yahoo Sports

Lockdown restrictions put in place due to coronavirus will put millions of Britons in a difficult position this Christmas.

Families must balance the desire to see their loved ones with the requirement to follow the government’s COVID-19 measures.

On Tuesday, BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire apologised for saying she would break the rule of six this Christmas.

She previously told the Radio Times she would break the rule to have her family of seven together.

She had said: “If the rule of six is still in place at Christmas, we’re breaking it to have the rule of seven. We just are.

“Joining me, my husband and our two boys will be my mum, her partner and my husband’s dad.”

But on Tuesday, she apologised for her comments, tweeting: “I’m starting the day by saying I’m sorry.

“It was hypothetical – however I was totally wrong to say it and I’m sorry. We’ll of course continue to follow whatever rules are in place on Dec 25th.”

A study published this week by the London School for Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) found that the rule of six and 10pm pubs curfew had “zero effect” on coronavirus transmission.
