Six new COVID cases in Oneida County as state numbers inch upward - Rome Sentinel

Oneida County reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, for 167 known cases.

Monday’s number followed 35 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, including 24 Saturday and 11 on Sunday.

The 167 current cases is the most since early August. The number of active cases has been generally increasing through October, according to the county’s online COVID-19 dashboard. The number of active cases in the county peaked at 401 June 1 and reached its lowest Aug. 31 at 40.

As of mid-day Monday, 13 county residents with COVID-19 were hospitalized, all in the Mohawk Valley Health System. Three of the patients were nursing home residents. One county resident with COVID-19 was hospitalized outside the county.

In addition to the 167 people isolating with an active case, 830 were in mandatory quarantine based on their contacts.

Meanwhile, the statewide rate of tests indicating COVID-19 again rose to 1.35%, the highest rate since July 20 after being below 1% as recently as Sept. 29.

In Oneida County, the Health Department announced the following incidents of possible public exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and recommends anyone there at the time monitor themselves for symptoms:

Key Bank at 1125 Mohawk St., Utica, 2-2:15 p.m. Oct. 20; self-monitor through Nov. 3.

AMF Pin-O-Rama Lanes, 1724 Genesee St., Utica, 6-9:15 p.m. Oct. 15 and 6-9:15 p.m. Oct 16; self-monitor through Oct. 29.

Walmart at 710 Horatio St., Utica, 9:15-9:45 a.m. Oct. 20; self-monitor through Nov. 3.

Price Chopper in the North Utica Shopping Center, 6-6:15 a.m. Oct. 21; self-monitor through Nov. 3.

Pet Supplies Plus, 4488 Commercial Drive in New Hartford, noon to 7 p.m. Oct. 20, 9 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. Oct. 21, noon to 7 p.m. Oct. 23, and noon to 1 p.m. Oct.24; self-monitor through Nov. 3, 4, 6 and 7, respectively.

Castlewood Cafe, 1307 Champlin Ave., Utica, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 24; self-monitor through Nov. 7.
