PEORIA (HOI) -- Elizabeth Jordan-Love's brother said on Thursday evening, she was picking up her son from his grandmother's house on the 2100 block of West Oregon Street in Peoria. As they were about to leave, a car pulled up and shots rang out.
Peoria Police said Jordan-Love was shot in the face but was conscious and breathing when officers arrived. She was quickly taken to the hospital.
Her brother, Robert Ellington-Snipes said he never thought this would happen to his baby sister. Elizabeth is a mother of six, a chaplain, and makers her own jewelry. She shouldn't be the target of any sort of violence.
"[I] had no reason to believe when I woke up yesterday morning that yesterday evening, by 5:30, I would be getting that kind of call," said Ellington-Snipes.
Ellington-Snipes said right now, his sister can only communicate by squeezing someone's hand. She is currently undergoing surgery in Chicago.
"There is a lot of swelling and things of that nature and I believe they got to remove some of the bullet fragements in her jaw," he added.
He said people need to come forward -- not just for his sister, but for all victims of senseless gun violence.
"They have to talk, you're gonna have to say something, because nothing from nothing leaves nothing, they have to be able to open up their mouth, they need to say something," said Ellington-Snipes.
Jordan-Love's family is relieved she is alive but not sure what state this shooting has left her in. Ellington-Snipes said he hopes, if someone is caught, they will face the maximum sentence.
