Monster Hunter Rise Free Demo Coming To Nintendo Switch Next Month - Screen Rant

depolitikblog.blogspot.com

Last week's Game Awards 2020 debuted more footage of the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise, revealing that it will release a free demo sometime in January. Monster Hunter Rise is the next big installment in the series, after Monster Hunter World recently finished its title updates with its final monster.

From what's known about Monster Hunter Rise, there are a variety of new mechanics that will change the tide of combat and navigation through the world. The new Palamute helper companions will aid hunters in traversing the world more easily and assist them in fighting monsters. The featured mechanic is the wirebug, which allows hunters to zip around the map in Spider-Man style, and even allows for new flashy moves with weapons. Together, these mechanics will likely create an experience unique within the Monster Hunter franchise - which is saying something, given how frequently Capcom is willing to reinvent or innovate within the series.

The trailer showcased at this year's Game Awards revealed a variety of details on the game, such as new and old monsters, but the most notable thing revealed was that a demo will be released on Nintendo Switch in January. The trailer also notes that the demo will be available for a limited time, but it's unclear how long that availability period will last. Demos for past Monster Hunter games, such as Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, are still available to download from the eShop today, so this is somewhat unusual as a practice compared to precedents set by previous titles.

This demo also further reinforces the truth about contents in the huge Capcom leak that occurred last month. The Monster Hunter Rise demo is mentioned as both a January and March release in the leak, so it's probable that this is related to the demo being available for a limited time. Along with the demo reveal, the trailer also showcased what looked like a new type of quest in which hunters will use siege weapons like ballista and cannons to defend the village from what's known as a rampage. A group of enraged monsters is shown stampeding towards the fort, and it's unknown whether the goal is to kill or repel them.

Having to face a pack of monsters at once using siege weaponry is yet another thing that's new to the series, and should this type of quest be featured in the demo, it would give hunters a taste of what's to come from this installment. While the limited availability is a potential point of concern, especially given Nintendo's recent limited releases, there's no doubt that many are looking forward to the Monster Hunter Rise demon all the same.
