Six people have been displaced following a house fire on Utica’s west side on Monday.
The alarm was raised at 11:42 a.m. for a fire at 1209 York St., a 2 1/2-story residence located southwest of Varrick Street.
City firefighters responded and surrounded the home, using an aerial truck to attack the flames coming from the attic.
Fire officials said the flames were contained to the home, with some neighboring homes sustaining heat damage. No one was injured, officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross said they are assisting six residents displaced from the fire: four adults and two children, ages 7 and 9. The Red Cross is assisting with shelter, food and clothing.
