Kanye West didn’t need to attend the 2021 Met Gala to have his presence be felt.
The rapper’s estranged wife, Kim Kardashian, attended the lavish soiree wearing a custom Balenciaga look complete with a head mask that obscured her face entirely. She walked the famed red carpet with Balenciaga Creative Director Demna Gvasalia, an intro made possible by West.
A source told Page Six the former “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star wanted to make a “new subculture and fashion statement” with her polarizing look.
“There’s no logo, no face, but everyone knows it’s her,” our source added. “Kanye gave her the courage to push creativity and people’s imagination through art.
“It’s the ultimate confidence.”
Monday’s Met Gala was Gvasalia’s first, as he’s very private and rarely makes any public appearances.
“He doesn’t even walk out at the end of his shows,” our source added. “So it’s a really big deal that he is here at the Met and walking with Kim.”
The KKW Beauty founder’s outfit also included a tunic-length T-shirt, bodysuit, elbow-length gloves and “Pantaleggings” with built-in high heels.
Kardashian, 40, has been wearing similar ensembles as of late while she supported West’s release for his latest album, “Donda.”
